StyleDry & AromaticRegionMendozaABV11%Vintage2017Great description of this wine from importer, Las Bodegas... 'We talk a lot about the rule-breaking, maverick approach to making wine that is embodied in Matias Michelini. That's not to say this fantastic winemaker doesn't also make wines that bring an instant smile to the taster with their obvious crowd-pleaser credentials; wines with a lovely immediacy and highly approachable character. This gorgeous blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Viognier and Chardonnay from Tupungato is one such wine. Fragrant, fresh and abundantly fruity from start to finish.
And what about the name? Verdes Cobardes - Green Cowards! This is a moniker applied to Matias by some of his neighbours, who say early picking is cowardly, not waiting for so-called 'optimum ripeness'. We suspect they are just jealous. As Matias himself says: "Cobardes are those of us who choose to pick grapes with less maturity in the search for a wine with expression, tension, nerves and depth".'
Variety: Sauvignon Blanc - Viognier - Semillon - Chardonnay Sub Region: Tupungato Vegan: No Closure: Screw Cap Bottle Size: 750 ml Winery: Michelini Brothers Food Match: Grilled white meats, salads, light pasta dishes.
From the increasingly prized Gualtallary sub region, you'll find the Michelini brothers. They'll introduce you to styles of wine you've never tried before because they dare to do things differently. The three brothers have their own individual projects, but they work together to create interesting wines with a sense of place. Without a doubt, their wines are gaining a cult following, so we're delighted to bring you a taste of their range. Look out for Verdes Cobardes and Otra Piel.
