A delicious blend of 80% old-vine Tannat and 20% Malbec. It tasted superb with @jamieoliver ‘s Beef Hash, courtesy of @lej_sm So much youthful dark fruit character, but with incredible notes of tobacco and spice.
Almost a year to the day since we launched Taste Argentina and our Decanter certificate for Best South America Specialist arrived in the post!
..and mine too! A superb white wine made from Malbec grapes, where the grapes are gently pressed to avoid contact with the colour in the skins.
Great to read through the report by Alistair Cooper MW on the 2020 harvest. The country recorded its hottest March on record. Multiple heatwaves and low rainfall contributed to smaller berries and lower yields.
A huge thank you to the lovely Karim Mussi Saffie for hosting a fabulous live tasting with our customers. Following a little tour of the winery, we tasted the Alandes Paradoux Blanc de Blanc, a Bordeaux inspired white blend, and the hugely popular Altocedro Old Vine Malbec.
Wines of Argentina brand ambassador, Phil Crozier, has given us a great insight into the key differences between warm and cool climate Malbec. Let Phil take you on a journey of discovery in the video blog below.
'This is a lovely bright, light-bodied red, with a bracing acidity and grape-skin chewiness to go with its unique flavour of redcurrant jelly and rosehip syrup, tamarind peel and orange pith. But this wine isn't just about what it tastes like. You're drinking history here...
Lovely comments on our new Bramare Duo Gift Box! Feedback is so important to our business and we are hugely grateful for all
Another fabulous wine from Karim Mussi Saffie, as featured in Tim Atkin MW's Top 100 Best Scores. A classic Bordeaux inspired white blend, blending Semillon with Sauvignon Blanc.
This was apparently an 'insane' food match according to Taste Argentina founder, Howard Jones! The Riccitelli Old Vine Semillon 2019 blew us away when we first tried it, it's complex and elegant and packed full of incredible pink grapefruit notes.
Congratulations to Vina Cobos winemaker, Andres Vignoni, who has been recognised as Young Winemaker of the Year by renowned wine critic, Tim Atkin in his latest 2020 Argentina Report. Andres is winemaker for a number of our Vina Cobos wines, including the hugely popular Felino wines. Great acheivement, Andres, well done!
Delighted to announce the arrival of the Rutini Gewürztraminer. A delicate, off-dry wine full of orchard fruits and spicy notes. Gewürz actually translates to 'spice' in German, which sums this wine up perfectly. The grape's pink skin can produce a wine with a copper hues, but the Rutini is a soft, golden colour.
There's no doubt Argentina is renowned for its excellent Malbec, but Cabernet Sauvignon is really starting to shine in the foothills of the Andes. The cooler, higher altitude in these wine regions extends the ripening period, which is especially important for the late ripening Cabernet Sauvign
To celebrate World Malbec Day we have two lovely wines we’d like to give away. We also felt that whoever wins should be a keyworker, a little thank you from us for all of your hard work. Nominate your keyworker via our Instagram page and they’ll go into a draw to win these two bottles of Felino wine from the fabulous Vina Cobos Estate in Mendoza. We
A little update from the Susana Balbo Winemaking team as they move into the winery to complete the 2020 harvest under the Argentinian lockdown. Thanks for sharing, Gustavo!

Karim Mussi Saffie from Bodega Altocedro and Bodega Alandes updates us on how they are dealing with the Coronavirus in the middle of harvest... click for video
You can never have enough Daffodils 🌼 Same goes for the Rutini Collection Chardonnay, shame this isn’t my glass! Thanks @howardjones1971 (Jo!) for the lovely picture 😊
I'd bought this lovely bottle of bubbles to share with Mum, but like for many of us, it was a remote celebration this year. It's a superb sparkler, made just like Champagne by French born Jean-Edouard de Rochebouët.
We have another new wine! The Vallisto Viejas Blancas, a mouthwatering blend of 50% Riesling and 50% Pinot Blanc. Only 2700 bottles were produced so we're delighted to have an allocation.
Coming into land 🐝 Maybe she can smell the honeyed notes in the wine? This lovely Blanco de Pinot Noir from Bodega Aniello is new in this week and it's delicious.
A bit like the first cut of the grass, the first chilled bottle of Rose in the garden is absolute heaven. And the sun is definitely warming up, so if you can find a sheltered spot, I think you're good to go!
We’re delighted to have appointed Tom Fitton as our Digital Media partner. Apart from liking wine, he’s got a wealth of experience in digital planning for leading consumer brands such as Missguided, Mint Velvet and Pretty Little Thing. Welcome on board, Tom!
Great tasting, great wines and great to catch up with friends, old and new! Highlights from the show include the Agustin Lanus wines from Condor. I've discovered Criolla and there's no turning back.
Some nice coverage in the trade press for our range extension...
Receiving a great review really makes our day here at Taste Argentina, so this is just a big THANK YOU to everyone who has taken the time to feedback on our wines and our service.
We love the sentiment behind this wine. Emma Zuccardi is Sebastian Zuccardi’s grandmother, who he describes as ‘An elegant and charming woman of great personality. The Emma Zuccardi Bonarda pays tribute to that woman.'
Our ambition at Taste Argentina is to offer consumers in the UK the widest and most exciting selection of Argentinian wine online...and we definitely feel like we’re getting there! We now have over 115 wines in our portfolio from over 30 producers spanning the length and breadth of Argentina.
What a fab few days we've had in London! A cracking tasting with Las Bodegas, so we now have 27 new wines to add to our portfolio. There's definitely some cult wines in there from Michelini and Ver Sacrum, plus some fabulous new whites, sparkling and rose wines.
In Tim Atkin’s 2019 Special Report on Argentina he talks about the quality of Argentinian whites and how they’re improving with every vintage, with those at their best up there with Chilean whites.
As the sun sets on another year, we'd like to raise a toast to our customers, suppliers and our very hard working producers. It's been a fantastic first quarter for Taste Argentina and we're really excited about 2020.
Sian's our finance guru. And as well as loving numbers, she LOVES a drop of fizz! She's chosen the Zuccardi Blanc de Blancs for Christmas morning, but will she share it??!! It's a real gem of a sparkler, made just like Champagne. It's 100% Chardonnay from high altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley, Mendoza.
Such a lovely couple of days in Manchester with the Three Wine Men team, Oz Clarke, Olly Smith, Tom Surgey and Susy Atkins! And great to meet so many enthusiastic customers.

Celebrating the engagement of Sarah and Scott last night so I obviously had to request a photo of the happy couple with my 5 December wine choice. I did let them keep it, but enjoyed a glass myself too 😜 We love this organic sparkler from Familia Zuccardi 🥂

Susana’s Late Harvest Malbec is a naturally sweet red that’s just heaven with chocolate puds. Late Harvest simply means the grapes have been left to raisin on the vine, producing a delicious sweet red which is soft and balanced.

In case I haven’t mentioned it before, I absolutely love this wine! It’s a bit special, so exactly the sort of white you need in your fridge on 25 December. From 50 year old Semillon vines in Patagonia, Matias Riccitelli has produced a stunning Semillon which is rich and complex, a real showcase of what Semillon is capable of.

Last night’s tipple (from Howard) is our 2nd December wine choice. He’s serving up a little chicken casserole with dumplings and I’m sure the Ben Marco Pinot Noir would have matched perfectly. And that is a 750ml bottle, I think they’re just giant glasses 😆
#christmaswinecalendar 01.12🎄🍷
Happy 1st December! Surely it’s time to start planning your Christmas wines? We thought we’d help out by picking 24 wines, across various styles and price points, which we think would work well with Christmas lunch 😋
